AGILPLAS - Agile plastic moulding

The main objective of the solution is to further improve the production system of a plastic manufacturer, XIMA, thanks to the use of an IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) platform based on the use of FIWARE and implemented by a technology provider as it is BOSONIT. XIMA will obtain a real time decision system on the production of plastic pieces and become a more agile and integrated factory to serve its customers (from sectors like vending machine makers, supermarkets, automotive sector, etc.). The main problem AGILPLAS is trying to solve is the clogging or adhesion of material to the mould in plastic injection processes. This problem affects productivity because it involves stopping production to unscrew the parts, material or castings stuck in the mould. Our approach relies on the idea that real time monitoring of different productive elements within the process of plastic injection such as robot-arms and sensors will facilitate actual insights on possible clogging problems but also the baseline for a predictive maintenance system that could anticipate stops in production lines.
